Doctor Who Tv Series
Dr. Who is the longest-running TV series all around the
world. It first started in 1963, and at first, it was mainly
aired in the United Kingdom. There, it has run regularly until
the present time. The Guinness Book of World Records lists
it as the longest-running science fiction series in the history
of the world. The show has an intensely loyal fan base, with
aficionados hailing from Australia, Japan and the United States.
These days, the show is in its fourth incarnation, and Dr.
Who is being played by David Tennant (the tenth actor to play
the role).
Dr. Who is an alien who travels through time with the aid
of TARDIS, which stands for Time and Relative Dimensions in
Space. TARDIS looks like a relic from the fifties, and Dr.
Who always has a sidekick who helps him figure out solutions
to problems. He also has to constantly contend with monsters
and villainous robots. Dr. Who has the ability to heal and
regenerate himself when he is sick or hurt, which has made
it easier over the years to introduce new actors in the leading
role. Here is a list of the actors who have played Dr. Who:
• 1963-66: William Hartnell
• 1966-69: Patrick Troughton
• 1970-74: Jon Pertwee
• 1974-81: Tom Baker
• 1981-84: Peter Davison
• 1984-86: Colin Baker
• 1986-89, 1996: Sylvester McCoy
• 1996: Paul McGann
• 2005: Christopher Eccleston
• 2005-Present: David Tennant
Among the 10 actors that have held the role of Dr. Who, David
Tennant is considered the best (Tom Baker runs a close second).
Currently, Tennant is leaving the show, and the 11th Dr. Who
will be played by Matt Smith. Smith is 26 years old, making
him the youngest person ever to play Dr. Who. He’s a
British stage and TV actor, and fans of the show are excited
to see what talents Matt Smith can bring to the beloved role.
Dr. Who is a television institution, and although it has
seen cast and other changes over the years from 1963 to now,
it continues to be one of the most popular science fiction
series ever. If you are a fan of the show, you will probably
be excited to see what the newest Dr. Who, Matt Smith, can
do to make the role his own. Stay tuned to Dr. Who to find
out what happens next!
